Race Highlights
What a great Labor Day weekend that was... we hope you were there too, so much happened!
First of all, Ricky Carmichael secured his 5th AMA National Champion title after winning both motos in Steel City this Sunday. RC remains undefeated this season - 22 victories in 22 motos! Kevin Windham was second overall, with 2/3 finishes. Mike Alessi was third, despite being caught in a crash with Reed and McGrath in moto 1. This was Mike's second pro race ever.
Jeremy "Showtime" McGrath was racing a CRF 450 for Team Honda. He did not finish moto 2 due to mechanical problems, but will still be able to keep Number 2 for next season. The last time MC raced an outdoor National was more than 4 years ago.
To top it all off, James "Bubba" Stewart won both motos in the 125 class - amazing, but no big surprise here. What may come up as a surprise is that with today's win Stewart becomes the all-time 125 National win leader - 27 wins in only 3 seasons - that's more than Carmichael's personal record! Broc Hepler - a local favorite - finished second overall with 3/5. Troy Adams rode his Kawasaki to the third spot on the podium with finishes of 7/3.
